The Keeper
Spray Restrictions
Insect pollinators like bees play such an important role in the supply of our food that farmers are restricted as to when they can spray insecticides on their crops. Provincial laws state that farmers cannot apply insecticides while crops are in bloom because that's when bees are most likely to be pollinating. Such restrictions are in the farmers' best interests, since the presence of bees should lead to better crop yields.
Beekeepers have a right to claim losses due to the application of insecticides in cases where farmers do not abide by the law.
